THERE IS ONLY a few years in the difference between college and your 20s, but they can have a seismic and important impact on your nights out.
And you never even see it coming:
1. In college, pre-drinking starts about 4pm just because
2. In your 20s, nobody is ready to meet up until way after that
Dinner plans and everything else just gets in the way.
3. In college, pre-drinking in the gaff was the everything
Nothing else mattered.
4. In your 20s, people seem to actually want to socialise in pubs
Which is a little more hassle, all things considered.
5. In college, midweek nights are where it’s at
6. In your 20s, midweek nights are usually on the couch like
Netflix, though.
7. In college, county colours are an acceptable fashion choice
8. In your 20s, county colours are confined to actual GAA settings only
And going out after the match, of course.
9. In college, there is always some straggler who doesn’t have their ID
Making everyone nervous about whether the group will get in.
10. In your 20s, getting asked for ID is a major compliment
11. In college, people are allowed to wear gas things to the bar
12. In your 20s, everyone thinks they’re too cool for that
13. In college, the quality of drink purchased is solely determined by price
14. In your 20s, you might upgrade on quality and decrease on quantity
The premium brand is calling.
15. In college, you’re the youngest people in the club
16. In your 20s, you feel like this
“It’s like a creche in here” is heard about seven times per evening on average.
17. The morning after in college feels like
18. And the hangover in your 20s is more
You wouldn’t change either experience for the world, though – such is the unique charm of each.
