FATHER TED CO-CREATOR Graham Linehan has finished production on a new Irish sitcom, which will be co-produced by RTÉ and the BBC.

Called The Walshes, the three-part series was written by Linehan with London-based Irish comedy group Diet Of Worms.

The show highlights the home life of the Walsh family, living in the fictional west Dublin suburb of Strollinstown. It’s based on Diet Of Worms’ web series Taste Of Home, which recreated a family’s home videos from the 1980s.

There’s Tony and Carmel at the back with daughter Ciara (Amy Stephenson), son Rory (Rory Connolly) and Ciara’s fella Graham (Shane Langan). They all live in the family home, due to the dire state of the Irish economy.

The lad with the video camera is family friend Martin (Owen Roe), who accidentally gets trapped in the wall cavity at one point.

The show’s interiors were filmed in a UK studio – above – but the team also shot a number of exterior scenes on location in Dublin.
