Ghostbusters actor and Groundhog Day director Harold Ramis dies

Ramis also wrote and directed Caddyshack.

HAROLD RAMIS, BEST known for his role as Egon in the Ghostbusters films and as the man behind Caddyshack and Groundhog Day, has died at the age of 69.

The Chicago man left his mark on many classic films from the comedy genre.

His writing credits include Second City TV Show, Meatballs, Caddyshack, Groundhog Day, Ghostbusters I and II and Bedazzled.

He also took a directing role for many of the scripts he wrote.

As well as playing Dr Egon Spengler in Ghostbusters he also starred alongside Diane Keaton in Baby Boom and more recently as the father of Seth Rogen’s character in Knocked Up.

Last year Ramis spoke about reviving the Ghostbusters franchise, with a long awaited third film in the works.

Here we’ve rounded up some of Ramis’ best known works.
