This heartwarming hug between a little girl and a pilot has melted the internet's heart

Little RE was born without arms and the pilot she hugged is her inspiration.

THE INTERNET IS never short of inspirational photos, but this one being shared in the last 24 hours is something special.

Jessica Cox is the first pilot in the US to gain her license without any arms. Her story has been made into a documentary called Right Footed - which premiered this week.

When she was speaking at the premiere, three year old Ruth Evelyn ‘RE’ Pranke and her mam were there to meet her. RE was born without arms and they captured this hug, which has truly melted the internet’s heart:

Speaking to ABC, RE’s mother explained why she drove six hours to the premiere last weekend:

I’m just grateful that we had the opportunity to show everyone that it doesn’t matter if you have arms or not, that you can do the same things as everyone else — you just may have to do it a little differently.

And explaining how the photo of RE came about, she said:

She loves hugs.

The photos of RE and Jessica were posted on the Facebook page of Right Footed and it’s since gone super viral – being shared across Facebook and Twitter as the inspirational story that it is.

Jessica spoke about how the hug impacted on her as well:

When I meet a child without arms, it feels like I’m giving back. It’s that feeling of ‘Oh, I’m going to be OK. I’m going to be able do everything this woman did,’ is what I’m giving back to R.E. and other children. It’s saying ‘I’m going to be just fine.’
