The House of Cards Twitter account burned Theresa May for not turning up to the UK leaders' debate

When even the Underwoods can slag you.

WITH THE UK election exactly one week away, TV and social media last night was dominated by the BBC leaders’ debate – and the fact that the Prime Minister Theresa May wasn’t on stage.

It was quite a stark contrast given all the other six leaders showed up – while she sent a representative for her party:

The set looked like it was straight out of The Weakest Link

Given Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn agreed to debate earlier in the day, most of the observations were centred on the Prime Minister deciding to give it a miss

And one of the most memorable moments was when the Lib Dems leader told everyone to change the channel because Theresa May didn’t bother to give them her time

As the debate was trending around the world, some of the biggest names in fictional politics were bound to step in.

And the official House of Cards Twitter account tweeted a GIF directly at the Prime Minister, with these words

A sad day when the Underwoods are trolling you.

With over 15,000 retweets already, it was sublime timing

People were here for the shade

Can’t be a good time to be opening Theresa May’s mentions, with all the House of Cards GIFs being sent

Well played, House of Cards’ Twitter.
