HOW OFTEN DO you wash your towels? Are you conscientious about it? Or do you leave the same towels in rotation for weeks on end?
A recent survey by laundry app Laundr.ie found that 25% of people use the same towel for three weeks or more while 35% use the same towel for two weeks without washing it.
Think about that for a second: 60% of people use the same towel for at least two weeks without washing it.
The question of how often one should wash their towel has divided the internet for some time.
Some people are of the opinion that towels can’t possibly get dirty and therefore don’t need washing
Interesting logic.
While others are disgusted by people’s laissez-faire attitude to washing their towels
WASH YOUR DAMN TOWELS
So, how often should you actually wash your towels?
Good Housekeeping says that it’s down to “personal preference” but advises that towels can probably be used at least three times before they need to be washed.
If you hang them on a towel bar and allow them to dry well after each use, bath towels can easily be used three times or even more before you toss them in the laundry. Washing and drying towels too often will make them wear out faster, and it’s just a waste of time and energy.
By that measure, three weeks might be taking the piss a bit.
The whole thing begs the question:
How often do you wash your damn towels?
