IF YOU WERE to believe some people online and in the real world, dipping chips in ice cream is a strange and unusual practice worthy of mockery.
But, as you soon discover when searching, so many people do it that it should almost be considered a standard dip at this stage.
As the All Womens Talk blog outlines, the process is as simple as you would expect:
You make a plate of French fries and let them cool on a plate. Put one scoop of vanilla ice cream on a small bowl and drizzle some chocolate or strawberry syrup on it. Let the ice cream stand for a few minutes. When it starts to soften, you can start dipping those fries. Trust me, this makes for one delicious snack. I eat this all the time.
And the fans of this dipping practice are vocal in their support
As the evidence mounts up that this is standard practice – mostly in fast food joints
Any hot potato-based snack works well, apparently
But dipping chips in ice cream is certainly not a new thing – as this question posed to Yahoo in 2007 proves:
The fact that a lot of people were doing it back then shows that it’s probably been around as long as chips and ice cream have co-existed.
But why are people like it so much?
Well, according to one of those Yahoo answers, it’s simple:
It’s the combination of something sweet and something salty that makes it taste good.
Makes sense.
The question was posed on the Is It Normal? website and the responses were resoundingly positive as well. Loads of people dip their chips in ice cream, apparently.
People still question its validity today though
But they need not. Dipping your chips in ice cream is a legitimate thing, and the groundswell of advocates merely proves this point once and for all.
So, have you ever dipped your chips in ice cream?
