That massive game of hide n seek in IKEA Dublin isn't happening - but there is some good news

Ireland’s biggest game of hide and seek WILL happen elsewhere though.

WE’VE HEARD A lot this week about the proposed game of hide and seek that was ‘planned’ for IKEA Dublin - as over 8000 people signed up for the event that was supposed to be held next Wednesday.

But organiser Adam Forsyth has confirmed to DailyEdge.ie that the event will not go ahead and that it was never supposed to – as it was all a prank over a few Paddy’s Day pints:

I created the event as a joke after a few pints on Paddy’s Day with absolutely no idea that it would take legs the way it did. I’m still stunned by the number of people who have joined and shown interest.

But for those who were getting excited about the idea of a large scale game of hide and seek, don’t despair. Adam has liaised with the people who run the Vantastival Festival and can confirm that they are going to host the event on May 30th in a different location – possibly in one of Dublin’s city parks.

Even though the original event was all a joke, IKEA still got in touch with Adam and told him in no uncertain terms that the event will not be going ahead:

As it turns out, Ikea have no desire whatsoever to play hide and seek and have contacted me asking me to remove the event immediately. At first it was a marketing person but then somebody from their legal team was in touch.

Turns out hide and seek on an industrial scale is indeed a serious business.

The new event will be a family fun day out and the plan is to put the event on in aid of a yet to be nominated charity:

There has been an unbelievable amount of interest in the concept and we’re currently trying to find a charity to link up with as well. We’re hoping it will be a day where kids can play all the games that kids don’t get to play these days. It will be Ireland’s Biggest Hide and Seek.

Ireland’s biggest game of hide and seek, you say? That’s something we are very interested in.
