DID YOU KNOW that just ten per cent of the world’s population are left-handed?
Well, you do now!
And in honour of these good folk, the world is celebrating International Left-Handers Day today.
But while the rest of the world raises a glass (with their right hand) to their left-handed friends, left-handers on Twitter are keen to remind the public exactly why this holiday is so well-deserved.
The left-handed struggles are real, people.
I didn’t get any presents for #LeftHandersDay and I can’t figure out why? I hit myself in the head with my cabinets at least once a month and I smudge over everything I write.

Left Handers, my fellow brothers and sisters, today we rise and show the world our graphite smudged hands. Today we awkwardly hold up our scissors in unison and proudly bump elbows with the person eating next to us! #LeftHandersDay

Fellow left-handed people, rejoice. We have a day, and some scissors that work, and most people don't think we're emissaries of the devil anymore. Woohooo! #LeftHandersDay

Today is the day where we celebrate our left-handed heritage while standing up against pens that smudge, having to pick between the two left handed baseball gloves at the store, and spiral notebooks designed by the devil himself. #LeftHandersDay

Happy #LeftHandersDay! May all lefties struggle less to open a can, use scissors, and operate machinery today. (And yes, all of those things are made for right-handed people.)

For the constant reminders by strangers, not being able to write the correct way in notebooks/binders, having ink smudges all over my hand/papers, scissors being more trouble, and every desk always being right-handed, it’s all a struggle
To all of my left handed folks this is our day #LeftHandersDay

You don't know the struggle of sitting at a desk and having no too to write because your elbow is bumping into the next person's
Had no clue about this and should have requested this day off pal.

The struggle of binders for the left-handed folk was a very real thing and to this day I still give a glare to those evil things.#LeftHandersDay pic.twitter.com/6piqtkYy4o
It's #LeftHandersDay. So what if no teacher knows how to teach you to write and nothing is designed for you? We thrive in our 10%; still rare enough to be unique but never lonely in our smudged essays and struggles with scissors

#LeftHandersDay shout out to everyone that had to twist their arm like a pretzel to avoid smudging their hand writing. Just one of the struggles that made us great. 👍🏾

Happy #LeftHandersDay! That's me! Shout out to everyone like me who knows what it's like to smear everything you write and to try and use tools not meant for you. I know the struggle. 🤜

After 29 years of struggle, I finally bought my first pair of left handed scissors. Life changing. I believed I would never cut in a strait line, looks like my kindergarten teach was wrong! #LeftHandersDay #NoChildLeftBehind

Only 10% percent of the world’s population knows the struggle of not being able to write without staining the side of your hand with pencil lead. Proud to embrace those stains more than ever today on #LeftHandersDay
