People are ALREADY queueing for the new iPhone in New York

No, we don’t know when it is being released. No, it hasn’t been announced yet.

PEOPLE HAVE STARTED queuing outside the flagship Apple Store on Fifth Avenue in New York City. And the rumoured new iPhone hasn’t even been announced yet.

Tech investor Dan Benton tweeted this photo of people queuing at 7.30am yesterday – six days before Apple’s product launch on Tuesday.

Apple is widely expected to announce the iPhone 6 on September 9. However, based on previous years it will likely be several more days – possibly a week or more – before the phone goes on sale.

USA Today reporter Eli Blumenthal tweeted this photo of the people in the queue yesterday, saying that they were vowing to remain there until the phone is released.

Later in the day, CNBC reported that the two men in the blue t-shirts had accepted $1,250 each to give up their places first in the queue.

They were replaced by the people just to the left of them.
