We asked 9 Irish beauty bloggers for their one 'Holy Grail' product

Tried, tested, and true.

WHILE IT’S GREAT to splash the cash on makeup occasionally, there is nothing better than discovering a cheap product that really works.

We asked nine of Ireland’s best beauty bloggers to share their secrets – here are their no fail, Holy Grail budget makeup bits.

1. Sue from Cherry Sue Doin’ The Do: Bourjois 123 CC Cream

Sue Jordan has been writing about beauty for six years, and recommends Bourjois’ 123 CC Cream (€10.49) all the time to people looking for a good base:

Boasting three colour correcting pigments to combat dark circles, pigmentation and any number of unwelcome visage shades on every skin type, this CC cream glides on effortlessly and really does last all day long.
While I top it with a little powder on my forehead, it combats the 3pm redness and still feels like I’m wearing nothing at all [insert vision of Sexy Flanders here].

2. Sinead from The Beautiful Truth: Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer

Dark circles are the bane of many an Irish gal’s life, but Sinead promises that Maybelline’s Instant Age Rewind concealer (€11.99 – to the left of the pic above) will banish them.

This is an absolute holy grail product for helping fight the ever present dark circles. It has medium to full coverage, highlights and brightens under the eyes, blends really well, and is lightweight on the skin. My dark circles are significantly reduced when I use this concealer.

3. Lorraine from John, It’s Only Makeup: No7 Precision Lips Pencil

Lorraine has given you an excuse to use those Boots vouchers with her pick – No7′s Precision Lips Pencils. Praise the LORD.

In an effort to put No7 vouchers to use before they crumble into handbag clutter, I’ve worked my way through most of the range. There are plenty of gems, but the Precision Lip Pencils rise to the top. They’re ultra creamy, which makes for smooth, gliding lines – perfect if you’re using liner to create a really defined, sharp edge.

“My favourite part – it’s a twist-up pencil, so you’ll never be stuck for a sharpener.”

4. Orla from Makeup Over Mind: Max Factor Creme Puff blushes

Orla of Makeup Over Mind is stone mad for blush – and she thinks the Max Factor Creme Puff blushes (€12.99) are comparable to the very pricey Hourglass range:

I cannot say enough good things about this range. They are by far the best affordable blushes on the market and a great alternative to the divine Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blushes, for a a fraction of the price!

5. Yav from Makeup Monster: Bourjois 1 Seconde Mascara

Makeup Monster is one of the prettiest blogs around, with beautiful photos and great, detailed reviews. Here’s what Yav has to say about her favourite mascara, Bourjois’ Volume 1 Seconde Waterproof (€12.99):

For just over a tenner, it gives great length and curl and lasts all day without flaking or smudging, even in the worst of downpours! It’s honestly an amazing mascara and perfect for an unpredictable Irish summer where you’ll be sweating one minute and drenched the next.

Sounds right up our street.

6. Emma from Fluff and Fripperies: Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet liquid lipsticks

Emma rates these offerings from Max Factor and Rimmel but her favourite? It’s from Bourjois (again. What can we say? They do good stuff).

If there can only be one, I’d have to go for the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet liquid lipsicks (€12.49), which are little tubes of loveliness. Highly pigmented, a comfortable modern matte finish and incredible wear time.

7. Orla from The Orlacle: NYX HD Concealer

Proving that you really don’t need to splash out on concealer, Orla (AKA theorlacle on Snapchat) is a big fan of NYX’s HD Concealer (€7.75).

It gives amazing coverage and lasts all day. The main reason why I love it is that it doesn’t cake and it is totally buildable. The range also has a great selection of shades to chose from and it’s under a tenner! It’s fab.

8. Karen from Lovely Girlie Bits: Catrice High Glow Highlighting Powder

Everyone is all about the highlight right now, and you’re in luck because Karen has a cheap and cheerful option for you – Catrice High Glow Mineral Highlighting Powder (€5.50).

One of the best highlighters I’ve ever tried, budget or luxury. If you’re after a summer glow, then dusting this on the top of your cheekbones will give your skin the most gorgeous natural sheen. It far outperforms many higher end highlighters and I’ve been reaching for it every day.

9. AJ from AJ Makeup: Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer

Omg!! This little superstar has been shortlisted in the @beaut.ie_ awards for Best Concealer for Blemishes & Pigmentation! Head to beaut.ie/best-beaut-awards/ to place your vote now! Avid Snapchatter AJ (find her at AJmakeup) is one of the many ladies in love with Collection’s Lasting Perfection concealer, a steal at €5.79.

My holy grail without a doubt, one of the best I’ve ever tried – I even opt for this over high end brands.
