IRISH RAIL ARE looking for a young man who took the train from Dublin to Thurles yesterday, after a message to him went viral.

Twitter user @Tweecher, a secondary school teacher, sat near the boy on the train yesterday and overheard him in conversation with an older couple.

The user was so moved that they posted this message to him, calling him “a credit to [his] generation” and wishing him good luck.

Irish Rail retweeted the post, which has since been widely shared. A representative told DailyEdge.ie today that the company is now hoping to find him and pass on the message.

“It’s a nice story,” the spokesperson said, adding that they have had “no luck yet” tracking him down.

Irish Rail would like to show its appreciation to the young man, she added.

He seems to have enriched the journey for people that were in the carriage near him, so if there was a way we could show our appreciation. If we find him we’re going to give him a Trekker ticket, if he wants to travel around for a few days chatting to people.
