The world's most enthusiastic spelling bee contestant has charmed the internet

You, too, will feel his joy.

YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF a spelling and grammar pedant, but you just don’t love spelling as much as this lad.

Almost 300 world-class spellers from around the globe gathered at this year’s National Spelling Bee in the US, but there was one clear favourite – 15-year-old Jacob Williamson.

He stormed through the early rounds of the competition to become one of the final 12 on Wednesday night, capturing everyone’s hearts along the way. Why? He just loves spelling SO MUCH.

Here he is jumping with unbridled joy after correctly spelling the word ‘harlequinade’ during the semi-finals:

And again after spelling the word ‘Munchausenism’ right:

And going completely nuts after spelling ‘euripus’ perfectly.

Sadly, he was eliminated last night after getting the word ‘kabaragoya’ wrong. His reaction was priceless.

Sure, he was a little too confident with that last one, but everyone still loves him.

Go Jacob. The world needs more people like you.
