People are pretty pissed off at Little Mix's Jesy Nelson and her 'offensive' new dreadlocks
JESY NELSON HAS come in for considerable criticism today after uploading a photo of herself sporting dreadlocks to Instagram.
While the image has amassed almost a quarter of a million likes in just 17 hours, many social media users have accused the 26-year-old Little Mix member of cultural appropriation.
Indeed, some of Jesy’s followers called on the singer to apologise, while others asked her to go one step further and remove the image from her platform.
A heated debate ensued following the upload as Instagram users debated the impact the image may have on certain communities, with one member of the public refusing to be dismissed by Jesy’s supporters.
“If we cannot borrow from each other’s cultures what is the point in getting on together? More photos please!” countered another, in defense of the singer.
The debate has, unsurprisingly, reached Twitter, and continues to rage back and forth today.
