The suspect, 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz, killed 17 students at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, and left dozens more fighting for their lives.
The incident marks the 18th shooting of 2018, and as various sections of American society called on congress to tighten gun control, Jimmy Kimmel addressed Donald Trump’s speech in the aftermath of the tragedy.

Visibly emotional, the 50-year-old host dissected the words of condolence the President made in the hours that followed the shooting, and tearfully highlighted the incongruity of his message.
While Trump insisted he would do anything he could to help grieving families, Jimmy pointed out the insincerity of the claim given the President’s reluctance to tighten gun control.

To the sound of rapturous applause, Jimmy concluded his monologue by revealing he was ‘very, very, very tired’ of hearing politicians attempt to side-step the issue of gun control by accusing those keen to discuss it of insensitivity in the aftermath of a national tragedy.
