J.K Rowling says that Harry and Hermione should have ended up together

We say NAY.

HARRY POTTER AUTHOR J.K Rowling has said that she thinks Harry and Hermione would have made a better couple than Ron and Hermione did.

In a new interview with Wonderland magazine due out this Friday and previewed by the Sunday Times, Rowling admitted that they would have made a better couple.

Non other than Emma Watson, who plays Hermione in the film adaptation, conducted the interview. Asked about her character’s relationship, Rowling said:

I wrote the Hermione and Ron relationship as a form of wish fulfillment. That’s how it was conceived, really. For reasons that have very little to do with literature and far more to do with me clinging to the plot as I first imagined it, Hermione ended up with Ron.

Controversial, but Rowling is prepared for the backlash of Potter diehards.

I know, I’m sorry, I can hear the rage and fury it might cause some fans, but if I’m absolutely honest, distance has given me perspective on that. It was a choice I made for very personal reasons, not for reasons of credibility. Am I breaking people’s hearts by saying this? I hope not.

It seems that Emma agrees, saying “I think there are fans out there who know that too and who wonder whether Ron would have really been able to make her happy”. Rowling concured, saying they would probably have ended up in marriage counselling.

It’s all too much. Hold us.
