AN AMERICAN PICK-UP artist who advocates ‘choking’ women as a pick-up tactic has been deported from Australia after angry protesters picketed a Melbourne seminar.
Julien Blanc travels the world teaching men how to ‘seduce’ women – his techniques appear to involve harassing, degrading and even choking women.
This is no secret – Blanc has tweeted pictures of his exploits with the hashtag #ChokingGirlsAroundTheWorld.
A video from one of Blanc’s workshops in Japan shows him telling men:
At least in Tokyo, If you’re a white male you can do what you want. I’m just romping through the streets, just like grabbing girls just being like – head, on d*ck.
Last week, Blanc took his seminars to Australia – people who opposed his methods quickly began the #TakeDownJulienBlanc hashtag on Twitter, calling on venues to cancel Blanc’s events.
Buzzfeed reports that a petition to cancel the Melbourne event gained thousands of signatures, forcing the hotel holding the workshop to act.
A replacement seminar being held on a boat by one of Blanc’s associates was picketed – the police got involved, and the event was called off.
After the protests, the Australian government stepped in and cancelled Blanc’s visa, forcing him to leave the country last night.
Australian immigration minister Scott Morrison told Sky News that Blanc’s methods were ‘abuse’:
This guy wasn’t putting forward political ideas, he was putting forward abuse that was derogatory to women and that’s just something, those are values abhorred in this country.
Neither Blanc nor his company, Real Social Dynamics, have commented on the controversy.
