Kanye suggested that slavery was "a choice", among some other outrageous things, surprising no one

Someone please make it stop.

SURPRISE, SURPRISE! KANYE’S saying controversial things again.

The rapper, designer and Donald Trump fan made the comments during an interviewing on TMZ Live this week, and was confronted by a staffer over his choice of words.

“When you hear about slavery for 400 years,” he said. “For 400 years? That sounds like a choice.

You was there for 400 years and it’s all of y’all. It’s like we’re mentally in prison. I like the word prison because slavery goes too direct to the idea of blacks. Slavery is to blacks as the Holocaust is to Jews. Prison is something that unites as one race, blacks and whites, that we’re the human race.”

TMZ staffer Van Lathan said that he was “appalled” by Kanye’s remarks and that the rapper showed an “absence of thought.”

“I think what you’re doing right now is actually the absence of thought,” Lathan said.

And the reason why I feel like that is because, Kanye, you’re entitled to your opinion. You’re entitled to believe whatever you want. But there is fact, and real-world, real-life consequence behind everything that you just said.”
While you are making music and being an artist and living the life that you’ve earned by being a genius, the rest of us in society have to deal with these threats to our lives. We have to deal with the marginalization that has come from the 400 years of slavery that you said, for our people, was a choice.”

He’s also dragged his feud with Taylor Swift back up, citing her as the reason why he’s not played on mainstream radio anymore.

In a separate interview with Charlamagne Tha God posted to his YouTube channel, Kanye said that: “Ever since the Taylor Swift moment, it just, it never, it never had been the same, the connection with radio. It’s like, whatever powers that be, it was much harder after that.”

In 2009, Kanye went on stage during Swift’s acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards.

The duo would later make up and become friendly, but then their feud was reignited in 2016 when Kanye name-checked Taylor in his song, ‘Famous’.

He also blames an addiction to opioids following liposuction as the reason for his hospitalisation in 2016, and spoke about his falling out with Jay-Z.
