Here are the 12 toys kids will be clamouring for this Christmas*

*According to the Toy Retailers Association.

THE TOY RETAILERS Association – the industry body representing toy shops in Ireland and the UK – has released its annual list of the top 12 Christmas toys.

Called the Dream Toys, the list is compiled by “leading toy experts” who select from a longlist of 72 different toys.

So, what are the kids in your life going to be climbing the walls for this Christmas? Here, in alphabetical order, is the list:

1. Boomer Zoomer Dino

A robot dinosaur that can “chase, chomp, guard and even ROAR!” AKA parents’ new worst enemy. (€130)

2. Bop-It! Beats

bop-it-beats-box-medium

This strange blue object lets you play at being DJ, including spinning and scratching actions, and compete with your friends. Includes music from Nicki Minaj and Avicii! (€29)

3. Frozen: Snow Glow Elsa

A talking, singing Elsa doll from Frozen. Yes, she sings Let It Go. Also comes with free Olaf! (€45)

4. Frozen: Sparkle Dolls

A slightly more grown-up version of the Frozen dolls. Featuring Elsa and Kristoff, but NOT Kristoff’s main girl Anna. Controversial. (€21 each)

5. Lego Movie: Benny’s Spaceship

The spaceship from the Lego movie. Nuff said. (€105)

6. Little Live Pets Birdcage

Experience the magic of keeping animals in captivity, without actually imprisoning one. They repeat what you say, which will be EXCELLENT for winding up your parents. (€25)

7. Kiddizoom Smart Watch

Er, Apple Watch who? This watch for kids tells the time, takes photos, shoots videos, records your voice and includes games. Kids, stay back, this one’s ours. (€50)

8. Minecraft figures

Three-inch action figures from Minecraft. With true-to-life pixellation! (€10)

9. My Friend Cayla

An interactive doll that not only recognises your child’s speech, it “enables children to access controlled information from the internet”. So we’re guessing that it talks back to you with what it finds. *shudder*

(Apparently it has “Google SafeSearch technology which actively blocks unsuitable feedback”.) (€75)

10. Nerf-N-Strike Elite Demolisher 2-in-1

Over to the press release: “This blaster has a maximum impact whether you’re blasting big missiles with pump-fire action or unleashing a powerful barrage with motorised blasting… You’ll dominate the battlefield with the Demolisher 2-in-1 blaster.”

So now. (€59)

11. Toot-toot Animals Safari Park

Move the animals around the park, it makes noises. There are also some sing-along songs in case Mummy or Daddy is, you know, trying to read a book or something. (€50)

12. Transformers Stomp and Chomp Grimlock

It’s Grimlock! He stomps. He chomps. He does… Transformer stuff. (€115)
