That Labyrinth sequel everyone is talking about? It's not actually happening

YESTERDAY EVENING the internet was buzzing at the news that the weird and wonderful 80s film Labyrinth, starring David Bowie, was getting a brand new sequel.
The rumour originated in a Variety article about another Jim Henson Company movie, Which Witch. A single line in that article indicated that a sequel to the 1986 classic Labyrinth was “in development”.
Everyone immediately got very excited.

Unfortunately, Entertainment Weekly reports today that The Jim Henson Company has no immediate plans to develop a sequel:
