A couple of adorable lambs were born live on the Late Late last night

This really happened.

GIVEN THERE HAVE been a couple of lamb-based controversies on the show in recent weeks, the Late Late decided to tackle the issue head on last night.

By delivering a couple of lambs live on air.

Right at the start of the show, they cut to Bernard O’Shea reporting live from a farm in Castlepollard in Westmeath

Farmer John Fagan told us all about his farm, while one of the sheep nibbled on Bernard’s jacket

Excellent.

By the end of the lambing season, John told us his farm will have had around 1600 lambs born on site – which might just be an overload of cuteness. So, The Late Late Show decided to just show us the birth of just two little lambs last night.

Later in the show they cut back to the farm live for the actual deliveries

The purpose of the exercise was to promote the ‘Big Week on the Farm’ series that will run live on RTÉ One every night next week – and it certainly got people talking.

Bernard was in assistant mode, while John brought out the first lamb

Hands on.

And just like that, a little girl and boy lamb had been delivered on the Late Late

Look at them there.

People could barely get their heads around the hilarious scene

Others wondered if there was going to be a weekly lamb slot

Some weren’t fans of the lambs at all

But Friday night telly has never been so surreal

“There isn’t one for everyone in the audience” Bernard confirmed at the end

Aww.

But half the audience watching wanted one immediately

So many things could have gone wrong – but everything worked out in the end.

Those two little lambs were the real stars of RTÉ last night.
