WHEN YOU WERE a kid, did you dream of being on the Toy Show? Well, here are just a few of the staggering 285 kids living that dream tonight.

DailyEdge.ie chatted to a few of the kids and teenagers performing later, and got the lowdown on their Christmas wishes for this year.

Robin Harten (8) from Navan

Robin’s taking part in the opening number with Ryan Tubridy – she’s really excited to be taking part in the Toy Show because she gets “to stay up really late” and hang out with Tubs, who’s “really funny”. Her Christmas wish for this year?

I would like Goldie the Beanie Boo, but it’s very rare.

Well Santa, are you listening?

The Byrne Brothers from Mountcharles, Co Donegal

Luca (11), Finn (9) and Dempsey (6), AKA the Byrne Brothers, are a trio of trad enthusiasts and multi-instrumentalists from Co Donegal - Luca plays the accordion, Finn is on the banjo, while Dempsey is a whizz at the bodhrán.

They’re not asking for much for their Christmas wishes this year – Luca and Finn are all about “surprises”, and Dempsey is looking for some “teddies”. Ah.

Emma Murray (11) from Longwood, Co Meath

Emma is singing on the show tomorrow night and says her experience in the RTÉ studios thus far has been “so surreal”. As for her Christmas wish, it’s not too surprising coming from a country and western fan:

I’d love to go to Nashville and meet all the stars over there. It’d just be lovely.

Thia (9) and Kaleb (5) Kearney O’Sullivan from Kanturk, Co Cork

This cute pair is mad for trad and had loads of fun on the Toy Show set with Tubs, who Kaleb has proclaimed “cuckoo”.

Kaleb’s Christmas wish will be familiar to little boys across the nation:

Skylanders and an iPad, with all different kinds of Minecraft.

While Thia wants to get on the waves:

Get a surfboard, maybe.

Caoimhe Dunne (15), Gormflaith Ní Shíocháin Ní Bheoláin (14), and Maeve O’Callaghan (15) from Fermoy, Co Cork

The girls were tight-lipped on their involvement in the show tonight, but did reveal that the experience has been “surreal”, and they never expected to grace the Toy Show stage.

Caoimhe and Gormflaith have more traditional Christmas wishes – but Maeve is thinking about her studies:

Every year I wish for snow, and I just feel like this year it’s gonna happen.
Trying to get through the Christmas tests. [I'm in] Junior Cert.

Watch out for this lot on the Late Late Toy Show, tonight on RTÉ One at 9.30pm. Are you excited yet? We’re excited.
