Lena Dunham gave away her "aggressive" dog and the internet is having none of it

Caught rotten, Lena?

LENA DUNHAM IS by her own admission, frequently involved in “micro-scandals”.

Most recently, the creator of Girls has come under fire after she announced she had given away her pet dog, Lamby, following what she called “four years of challenging behaviour”.

Lamby suffered terrible abuse as a pup that made having him in a typical home environment dangerous to him and others – we needed to be responsible to ourselves, our neighbors and especially our beloved boy.”

However, the animal shelter where Dunham got the dog is disputing her claims about the dog’s past abuse.

“When she adopted the dog from us, it wasn’t crazy,” Robert Vazquez, a spokesman for the BARC no-kill animal shelter, told Yahoo Celebrity.

I have pictures of the dog loving on Lena and her mom, which is weird if the dog was abused. It wouldn’t be cuddling with her or be in the bed with her ‘boyfriend’ in the pages of Vogue.”

“We would have told her if the dog had issues. We are a no-kill shelter. We don’t lie about the dogs’ histories because that gets them returned — and mentally it’s not good for the dogs.”

Gulp.

Now, Dunham’s been forced to come out again and reiterate her original statement.

Lamby was and is one of the great loves of my life. When I met him I knew we’d have an amazing journey. But his aggression – which was unpredictable- and his particular issues, which remain myriad, weren’t manageable, at least not by me.

Dunham has been open on social media about the dogs instances of aggression, including times when Lamby supposedly bit her.

The 31-year old actor said Lamby is now living “at an amazing professional facility in Los Angeles” after trying “training or medication or consistent loving dog ownership”.

Whatever the truth of the story is, the internet was having none of it.

We just hope poor Lamby is happy and safe <3
