TOM GREALY IS an 80-year old accountant, and has never gotten a text before.
Right in the feels.
That all changed recently, however, when Three got in touch to tell him about Kasabian’s upcoming 3Arena gig in November.
In a letter to The Irish Times, Tom wrote: ”I have often wondered how I have managed for most of my 80 years without receiving a text message.”
I have just received one from Three telling me that Kasabian will be at the 3Arena in Dublin in November. I can’t wait!”
So, the guys on Breakfast Republic on RTÉ 2fm decided to give him a buzz to see what the suss is.
He told them he was “a bit shattered” but he was grateful that his letter-writing has paid off.
An aunt of mine once told me that anyone who writes letters to the paper, they either have nothing to do or they’re cranks … As I’m fairly busy I must be the other one.”
He admitted he’s not able to send a text message, so the guys decided it was their duty to teach him.
Jennifer Zamparelli, however, wanted to go the extra mile for Tom – and bring him to Kasabian as her date.
I have a thing for men of a certain age … I can’t believe you’ve never gotten that many text messages, and Kasabian are a great band.”
Tom admitted he doesn’t know any Kasabian songs – yet – but he has his leather pants ready.
