YESTERDAY, LIMERICK PARTIED to impress the judges in their bid to be the European Capital of Culture in 2020.
And a quick look around the county proves it would certainly provide a scenic backdrop if the city prevails:
1. Like the view staring out at the Shannon Estuary from Glin
2. Which doesn’t look bad on a fine day
3. Look at the view of the Shannon snaking through the city
4. Which looks just as good when the sun goes down
5. Taking a walk on the grounds of Glenstal Abbey
6. Where the abbey itself looks only class
7. Take in the view from the top of Galtymore
8. Or King John’s Castle over the Shannon
9. And a view of the river from the top of it
10. The county is packed with epic views – like at Lough Gur
11. Which isn’t a bad old spot
12. Of course, the European Capital of Culture only goes to a city – but the whole county would be a worthy setting
13. There’s more to the awarding than the scenery
14. But still, Limerick is doing grand on that front
15. Absolutely spectacular <3
