Don't throw away your Lotto ticket: you might have won big after all
IF YOU STILL have your ticket from last Saturday night’s Lotto, you might want to have another look at the numbers – because you could have won some money after all.
The National Lottery has revealed that the numbers drawn for last Saturday’s Lotto Plus 2 draw were read incorrectly.
A misprint on one of the seven numbers drawn meant that the number 9 ball was mistakenly read out as being the number 6.
The numbers printed on balls 6 and 9 in the National Lottery draws are underlined, so that the difference between the two can be clearly made out.
The Lottery says, however, that a misprint on the 9 ball for last Saturday’s draw meant that the line was placed on the wrong side of the digit. As a result, the number was read out as being ’6′.
In order to atone for the error, Lotto authorities have agreed to pay out on both sets of numbers – significantly increasing the number of prizes on offer for a ticket holder.
Anyone whose ticket would have claimed a prize, if the number 6 had been drawn instead of the 9, can sign the back of the ticket and return it with their name, address and phone number to: Lotto Plus 2, National Lottery, Abbey Street Lower, Dublin 1.
The Lottery will refund the cost of postage for any successful ticket.
For the record, the numbers drawn in Saturday’s Lotto Plus 2 draw were 3, 9, 23, 39, 40 and 42. The bonus number was 10.
There were no winners of the top €250,000 prize with the correct numbers – but with 38 people recorded as having matched five of the six numbers, it’s possible that some lucky punter’s €250 prize could now be worth a whole lot more.
