Louise McSharry to replace Dave Fanning in RTE 2fm evening slot
RTE 2FM HAVE added Louise McSharry to their new daily lineup – in the slot previously occupied by veteran DJ Dave Fanning.
The Louise McSharry Show will air weekdays from 8pm to 10pm, with a mix of talk and music covering pop culture, social media and “the topics people are talking about across Ireland”.
Fanning will be moving to a 10am-noon slot Saturday and Sunday, covering the morning papers, film and music.
(And before you ask: yes, that’s OUR Louise McSharry, from DailyEdge.ie. She’s leaving us.)
2fm also announced a new late-night weekday show featuring Chris Greene and Ciara King. Called Bottom Of The Barrel With Chris And Ciara and combining chat and music, it’s described as “a wry, sideways look at the world that doesn’t take itself too seriously.”
Chris is half of comedy duo Final Boss Media, who brought the world gems like this.
Louise said: “I’m delighted to have the opportunity to join the weekday schedule and I am really excited about getting the chance to talk about the things that have Irish people buzzing.”
We said: “We’re really sorry to see you go Louise, and we’ll miss you, but best of luck in your new job. You’re going to be BRILLIANT.”
The moves are part of a wider shakeup at 2fm that has seen Larry Gogan’s Golden Hour moved to weekends; Will Leahy’s More Music Drive suffer the same fate; and former Westlifer Nicky Byrne added as host of the mid-morning show.
