Fifth season of Love/Hate is already being written

Writer Stuart Carolan has said he is already coming up with plotlines for the next season.

A FIFTH SEASON of Love/Hate is already being worked on, the show’s writer Stuart Carolan has confirmed.

Speaking ahead of the launch of season four, which will arrive on our screens this Sunday, Carolan said that he was beginning to write the fifth instalment.

However, he told the Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show on Today FM that his job grows harder with each series. Asked about a fifth series, Carolan said:

I’m trying to start writing it at the moment. It’s hard, it is hard. It’s harder each year.

This may be connected to the show’s growing body count through series one, two and three. “I half wish I hadn’t killed off Aidan Gillen sometimes,” Carolan said. “Each year it is hard to reboot the series when you lose somebody.”

Discussing the writing process, he said that he watches the show on TV to try and spot elements or potential plotlines that were not obvious during production.

You kind of need to watch it. There’s things that happen sometimes, you’re unaware of them. There’s a certain chemistry between actors.

Asked about the upcoming fourth season, Carolan remained tight-lipped but said “We’re ramping it up this year.” He would only reveal the very first scene of the first episode:

We’re opening with some tapdancing.

Wonder if these lads are coming back…
