HE STARTED OUT his career as Wayne the cat killer that broke Ireland’s heart on Love/Hate back in 2013.
But now Barry Keoghan is the toast of Hollywood – with upcoming roles in Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk, and alongside Colin Farrell and Nicole Kidman in a film destined for Cannes later this month.
And appropriately enough given his rising status, he’s been featured in the latest issue of The Hollywood Reporter in its annual Cannes special.
“From Deep in Dublin to Cannes and Dunkirk” he’s named as the “Next Big Thing”
And the opening paragraph by journalist Rebecca Ford sets out Keoghan’s stall in the interview:
Barry Keoghan would like it noted that he was born and raised in Dublin 1
And Barry says:
I call it the real Dublin. It’s been a big part of everything to me.
Not a bad opening paragraph – a man proud of his Dublin roots and willing to tell any Hollywood journalist the same.
Here he is showing THR around Summerhill last week

Needless to say, that opening line has gone down well
And The Hollywood Reporter calling him the Next Big Thing is well deserved too
Good man Barry.
