Irish comedian Maeve Higgins writes powerful piece about police brutality in the US

EARLIER THIS YEAR Irish comedian Maeve Higgins moved to New York.

She’s been gigging, writing, working with Jon Ronson, and settling into her new home.

In a new article published on the blog publishing platform Medium.com, Higgins has written about her thoughts about events in US over the past number of days and weeks; particularly the grand jury decision relating to Eric Garner on Staten Island, and the shooting dead of Michael Brown.

The column, shared on Twitter by Mia Farrow, details Higgins’ feelings about speaking out against the actions of the police and her sense of injustice that nobody will be tried for Garner’s killing.
