Suspect caught after posting 'y'all will never catch me' on police Facebook

Talk about eating your words.

A MAN WANTED for violating probation was caught after posting taunts directed at police on Facebook.

28-year-old Roger Ireland (he has nothing to do with us, we swear) commented underneath a mugshot of himself that was posted on Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Facebook page as part of their social media campaign, #WantedWednesday.

The photo was shared around Facebook, until Ireland eventually stumbled across it himself.

He commented a few times, with jibes such as “all you cowards can’t catch me”, and “y’all will never catch me”.

Other commenters began to notice and tagged some of his family and friends.

The police wrote on Facebook that detectives could immediately follow up on tips relating to Ireland’s location and he was caught at a traffic stop and taken into custody ‘without incident’ the very next day.

Police Chief Kevin Davis said:

Social Media is a great tool for law enforcement and we appreciate our Social Media Sleuths. Community involvement is paramount to law enforcement’s success and the amount of tips that we receive daily on social media shows how much ownership citizens are taking in their own communities.
