THE RED CARPET is underway, but one familiar feature will not be making an appearance at this year’s proceedings.
Yes, E! have confirmed that the controversial manicam is no more.
The manicam was first introduced in 2012, its purpose being to allow celebrities show off their manicures/finger jewellery.
People had fun with it.
This year, however, actresses began to have enough and high-profile stars like Julianne Moore and Jennifer Aniston refused to participate in it at this year’s SAG Awards.
And so, the manicam will be absent from tonight’s red carpet with a spokesperson for E! confirming that neither the manicam nor the clutch cam will be there tonight due to “space constraints”.
Sure, okay.
The announcement has been welcomed by many who viewed it as sexist and demeaning to actresses.
While others conceded that it had jumped the shark.
Others are in mourning for personal reasons.
Meanwhile, on the red carpet, Patricia Arquette openly talked smack about the manicam.
RIP, manicam.
