Matthew McConaughey’s lost 90s audition tape surfaces online and it's glorious
JUST WHEN YOU thought you had seen all of Matthew McConaughey’s coolest moments, along comes this audition tape from the 90s that shows him right at the start of his career being totally charming.
His audition for Richard Linklater’s seminal 1993 movie Dazed and Confused was released yesterday as part of the Criterion Collection - and it was the performance that launched his career.
Watch it below, in all its glory:
Dazed and Confused was the source of that famous Oscar acceptance speech last year, when McConaughey repeated “alright” to the amusement of everyone watching. It first appeared over 20 years earlier in his first major role.

Dazed and Confused is also the source of one of the creepiest lines in film history.
