USUALLY YOU HAVE to simply rely on your hazy memories of nightclubs to get an idea of what they were about.
It’s not often that you get documentary evidence.
Well, on Friday Gerry McGuire dug out some footage from February 1990 in Roxys Niteclub in Ballina and the footage tells its own story
It features eight minutes of big jumpers, bigger shirts and absolute tunes
As he writes in the YouTube description, Roxys was formerly known as The Hothouse:
In 1990 the Hothouse was rebranded to Roxy’s and NRG was joined by Ray Mac and were simply known as Moyles, Mac & Rice! This video clip is from a night in Roxy’s. Enjoy the memories.
The Cure, Prince and Bryan Adams all feature, of course
The DJ/MC for the evening was giving it socks in some sort of Hawaiian shirt
The jumpers are to be applauded
Looked like some night
Throwback.
