AT A FESTIVAL in Michigan called Electric Forest, a fan was holding a totem with a huge print out of McLovin’s ID from the movie Superbad.
Now it’s worth pointing out that Superbad was released ten years ago, so naturally Christopher Mintz-Plasse, who plays Fogell (the character that acquires the famous McLovin drivers license) looks pretty different.
Maybe Mintz-Plasse should have been more aware of this before he approached the fan, because their interaction was almost painful to watch.
At first it looked pretty promising, as Mintz-Plasse headed over with his camera-bearing friends.
When he approaches the guy who brought the sign, it becomes immediately clear that he isn’t recognized. They just dance awkwardly together beside the sign for the guts of a minute.
After a lot of shouting over dance music in the background, the fan finally realizes that he is talking McLovin but didn’t recognize him because of his beard and glasses. Here’s the video:
For extra awkwardness, the fan tries to remove Mintz-Plasse’s sunglasses, just to see if it makes him easier to recognize. Mintz-Plasse was having none of it at all though.
If you’re curious about what Chris Mintz-Plasse is up to these days (apart from joking with people at festivals), he’s currently balancing working with his band Main Man and will feature in 2019 movie How to Train Your Dragon 3. Quite the mix of projects.
