CORK IS GETTING Ireland’s first restaurant dedicated to meatballs. Well, it’s a niche.
The Meatball Palace is opening tomorrow, November 18–and the majority of its menu comprises of meatballs.
It’s the brainchild of couple Grainne Holland and Tony Costello and is set to open up on Carey’s Lane in Cork City.
The concept came from time the couple spent in Melbourne visiting similar cafes, but the couple say the cuisine is ‘pure Cork’.
Holland, a graduate of Ballymaloe Cookery School, says all ingredients will be sourced locally by herself.
Customers can choose their ball first, then ‘blanket and bed’ with options such as chicken with gorgonzol and pancetta meatballs, or salmon and herb meatballs covered in mixed herb yoghurt or farmhouse gravy.
The couple say the soundtrack will be ‘jazz, blues and soft rock’, and say they want customers to “have a ball”. GET IT?
