Are these the 10 best Irish albums of the last year?

The Meteor Choice Prize nominations have been announced.

THE METEOR CHOICE prize nominations have been announced this afternoon.

The prize aims to reward the best Irish album of the last year, with the final decision made by the judging panel at an event at Dublin’s Vicar Street venue on March 5.

The winner will receive a prize fund of €10,000.

And the nominations are…

Victor Finn, the chief executive of the Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO) which provided the prize fund along with the Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA), said 2014 had been “an incredible year for Irish music.”

He added:

A wealth of emerging talent made serious inroads in various international territories while taking the creative force of Irish music around the world and in so doing reaching new audiences each step of the way.
