On-the-run raccoon taken into police custody

Rab had escaped from a mini-zoo in September.

POLICE HAVE FINALLY apprehend a raccoon that has been on the run for two months in Northern Ireland.

Rab, who escaped from a mini-zoo, had been spotted making his way around Ballymena, Co Antrim.

However, the PSNI caught the stray mammal today in Ballycastle after a sighting by a member of the public.

“I believe it is probably ‘Rab’, the raccoon that was reported missing from Ballymena back in September,” PSNI Wildlife Officer Marianne Breen said.

“The USPCA are caring for the raccoon at present until he can be returned to his owner.”
