DUBLIN ZOO HAS added a new species of monkey to its line-up.
They’re called red-capped mangabeys, and they are endangered in their native habitat in west Africa. They also have badass haircuts.
At their new home, they will be sharing a habitat with Dublin Zoo’s gorilla population.
There were a few tensions at first. A few funny looks.
And a bit of friendly competition for tree space
Which necessitated the occasional swift escape.
But when they REALLY got to know each other, the gorillas and the mangabeys became firm friends.
“Things could not have gone better,” habitat team leader Helen Clarke Bennett said. “The younger gorillas in particular are very curious about the mangabeys and keen to get to know and play with them.”
Here’s a video. The monkeys will make their debut in the season finale of The Zoo on RTÉ One at 7pm tonight.
