It looks like the kid from Moone Boy had serious craic at the Oscars last night

It looked like David Rawle wouldn’t get a ticket, but he hustled and scrambled and made it to the show.

We’re pretty sure this beats anything that happened in early ’90s Roscommon, anyway.

Getting to go to the biggest showbiz event of the year is quite the perk, but then again Moone Boy star David Rawle did feature in Irish animated film Song of the Sea – which was nominated for a gong at last night’s Oscars. And it looked like he had a decent night.

Here he is larking around the red carpet

Going to LA with the Kilkenny-based Cartoon Saloon staff that were nominated for Best Animated Feature, there was talk during the week that Rawle didn’t have a ticket for the show. But he got one last minute, and was in the limo with the rest

Here he is surveying the scene before the ceremony got under way

Cartoon Saloon illustrator Nora Twomey was on hand to record all Tic Tac-themed humour

Tomm Moore, director of Song of the Sea, was enjoying the limo banter with his Cartoon Saloon colleagues

Here Tomm Moore and Rawle literally rub shoulders with Japanese film director and legendary animator Isao Takahata

Not a bad night out, all told.
