An Australian TV show hosted what could be the world's saddest New Year's countdown
SPENT NEW YEAR’S at home on the couch? Don’t feel too bad about not venturing out. You could have been these people.

The Loop is an Australian music show hosted by Scott Tweedie and Olivia Phyland – to usher in the New Year, they did a review of the year’s best music videos.
A bunch of competition winners were invited on to help them do the big countdown – we say ‘help’, but well, they didn’t really do anything. In fact, they just stood in silence as Tweedie and Phyland tried to conjure up some New Year atmosphere:

As always, there are rumblings that the people in the clip were not in fact competition winners, but employees who were annoyed to be staying late at work.
Tweedie has maintained that they were the former, and has compared the awkward moment to Mariah Carey’s New Year’s lip sync blunder:
The Loop or Mariah? TBH, we can’t even decide.
