Updated: Muppets may not be filming in Dublin after all

We retract our earlier Muppet-based excitement – but there’s still SOME good news.

Yes, this is the Muppets in London. Hopefully there’ll be a Dublin pic soon (Image via Facebook)

SO EARLIER TODAY we reported that some of the new Muppets film is going to be shot in Dublin.

Disney Movies Ireland had confirmed that some scenes would be filmed in Ireland but said that there was no details yet about whether it would be the main unit – complete with Kermit, Miss Piggy and the gang – or just a second unit for background scenes.

Exciting, right?

However, there’s some bad news: Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Ireland has now said that the announcement may have been premature.

The Muppets are definitely going to be visiting Dublin in the film – but there’s no word yet on if any of the scenes will actually be shot on location in Ireland.

“The confirmed details at present are that Dublin has been added to the list of tour locations which the Muppets perform in during their global tour in the movie “The Muppets… Again!” Disney Ireland said in a statement.

“As far as we are aware there is no confirmation of whether the movie will actually shoot in Ireland”. The statement added:

Yes we know we are Muppets!

“The Muppets… Again!” has already begun shooting in London with Tina Fey and Ricky Gervais joining the cast. The film is due to be released in early 2014.

As a consolation prize, here’s one of the best things from the last Muppets film.
