EIGHT THOUSAND PAIRS of eyes have just eight more sleeps to wait until the new Urban Decay Naked eyeshadow palette launches in Ireland.
If you have eyes, or have a women in your life you has eyes and likes eyeshadow, chances are you’ve heard of the Naked palette phenomenon. Or maybe you’ve spotted the #NakedSmoky hashtag, which is currently the number one trend on Irish Twitter.
Here’s a quick explainer, if you need catching up.
The new palette is called the Smoky, and is the fifth to be released worldwide. It promises to be “the key to nailing the most sought-after and elusive eye look ever”, ie the smoky eye.

A press launch of the product today has revealed that there are around 8,000 people on the waiting list for the palette in Ireland, in advance of its launch on 6 August.
Debenhams (which will stock the Smoky alongside House of Fraser) is planning to open early at 8am on the day to meet the demand. Each palette comes with the price tag of €46.
Beauty and fashion blogger Leanne Woodfull has described the product today as “absolutely heavenly” while Dani O’Brien of The Glamour Nazi urged Naked fans on Instagram to get on board:

But what’s the big deal?
Well, it comes down to a combination of exclusivity (the palette, and the ones that came before it, can be tricky to get your hands on. The Naked 3 for example, was put on limited release online, and one sold every second until it sold out), appealing packaging, and a really good product.
Eyes of Ireland, prepare to be smoked!
