Natalia Kills has sort of apologised for her mad rant on X Factor New Zealand

“I was encouraged to be outspoken and things got out of hand.”

DISGRACED X FACTOR New Zealand judges Natalia Kills and Willy Moon have finally broken their silence on their ‘disgusting’ tirade against a contestant, which cost them their jobs earlier this week.

The couple was fired on Monday after Kills accused contestant Joe Irvine of ‘copying’ Moon in a tirade that quickly went viral around the world:

As an artist who respects creative integrity and intellectual property, I am disgusted at how much you have copied my husband… Do you not have any value or respect for originality? I am embarrassed to be sitting here in your presence, having to even dignify you with an answer of my opinion.

In separate statements made this morning, both Kills and Moon heavily implied that what viewers saw on Saturday night was not the “whole story” – but Kills denies that it was a publicity stunt.

In a post on Instagram, Kills said she was “relieved to finally be able to break the silence” and asked Irvine to forgive her, but stopped short of actually apologising to him:

At last! I am relieved that I'm finally able to break the silence... Xoxo nataliakills nataliakills

Kills briefly spoke to MTV Australia about the controversy, denying the rumours that her rant was a publicity stunt. From FemaleFirst.co.uk:

I feel like everyone needs to put the idea of it being a manufactured conspiracy theory behind them, there’s really nothing to it. I love my husband with all my heart, we’ll stick together no matter what.

Moon echoed Kills’ hints at there being more to the story, mentioning things “the viewer doesn’t see”:

The biggest #sorrynotsorry of recent times? Maybe so.
