Drinking game Neknominate slammed after 6-year-old appears in video
A DRINKING GAME which is played via social media has come in for further criticism after a video appeared to show a six-year-old drinking a bottle of beer.
The game – which has become extremely popular in Australia and New Zealand, and has also reached Irish shores – is a ‘pass it on’ drinking game, where a participant uploads a video of them downing an alcoholic drink before nominating someone else to take up the challenge.
The nominated person then has 24 hours to upload their own video.
All Blacks player Steven Luatua was forced to apologise after he appeared in a Neknominate video, and now a video if a six-year-old boy has caused outrage in New Zealand.
TVNZ reports that the video, which was posted on Instagram, appears to show the child downing the contents of a bottle of Heineken. The boy’s sister claims the bottle contained soda and that the clip is a “piss take” of the social media craze.
According to the New Zealand Herald Child Youth and Family Services are now investigating the incident.
