Nicky Byrne gives €1000 to Ray D'Arcy listeners who text 2FM by mistake

Listeners thought they were texting to enter a Today FM competition.

NOW THIS IS how you gain new listeners for your fledgling radio show.

Yesterday a man called Liam sent a text to what he thought was Today FM, thinking he was entering a competition to win €1,000.

There was a flaw in his plan though… he had sent a text to 2FM by mistake, while Nicky Byrne was on air.

And what did Nicky Byrne do? He put Liam live on the radio and gave him a grand in cash there and then and told him “stay listening to us”.

And that wasn’t all. Sharon in Galway had made the same mistake. And it was over to Nicky’s co-host Jenny Greene to deliver the good news:

Let there be no confusion, 2FM are giving you a grand in cash.
