A CHINESE MAN who suffered severe damage to his nose in a car accident is growing a new one on his forehead.
Infection set in after the trauma, causing irreparable damage to the cartilage.
It gave doctors in the country’s Fujian Province no option but to begin building a new structure on the man’s forehead.
Using a skin expander the shape of a nose has been formed using cartilage from the man’s ribs for support.
Speaking to Yahoo News plastic surgeon Dr David Cangello said that this method is not that uncommon, but that it’s an interesting take on procedures commonly used in reconstruction.
Doctors say they hope to transplant the nose to its rightful spot soon.
