Pestle & Mortar is the Irish skincare line that sold out in 7 minutes in America - here's what you need to know

*adds to wishlist*

IF YOU’RE INTO skincare, then chances are you’ve heard people evangelising about Irish skincare brand Pestle & Mortar of late.

Founded by Newbridge woman Sonia Deasy, the skincare line is the toast of the beauty world having racked up positive notices in Vanity Fair, Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Allure and more. (Even our own Louise McSharry was singing its praises last month.)

Just last week, Pestle & Mortar sold out on QVC, the US-based shopping channel. Here’s Deasy receiving the good news.

In other words, it’s a pretty big deal.

Deasy told Fora that she conceived of Pestle & Mortar a few years ago when she discovered that makeup artists were using “hyaluronic anti-ageing serums” when preparing models for photo shoots.

At this stage, I would have been around 34 or 35 and, as a busy mother, I wanted a skincare solution that was simple but effective. Pestle & Mortar was born out of this need and I believed there was a gap in the market.

After a year and a half of research and consultation, Deasy developed her first product and, well, the rest is history.

Now Pestle & Mortar is a bona fide sensation, beloved by beauty nerds the world over.

Their Superstar Retinol Night Oil is positively beloved with Caroline Hirons calling it “the best retinol I’ve used out of a prescription”.

Although the action is strong, the formula is gentle enough for a first-timer. I’ve had no redness, just brightness. Really, really good.

Win win.

Their Erase & Renew Double Cleansing System has also won serious kudos.

The set comes with a balm and cleansing gel, and was cited by InStyle as a must-have cleanser for those of us cursed with dry skin.

Just look at the glam packaging.

And the hyaluronic acid is a solid pick-me-up when your skin is looking dreary and lacklustre.

Now, they are admittedly on the pricey side with everything ranging from €42 to €75.95, but it’s never too early to add stuff to your Christmas wishlist, right?

Anything that makes us look like a radiant unicorn, tbh.

If it’s good enough to sell out in America, it’s good enough for us.
