Dublin is getting a brand new music venue - and it will sell pies

Well, this is a change.

SOME DUBLIN GIG-GOERS might remember The Pint venue on Eden Quay with a certain fondness, and might have been sad to see it close down earlier this year.

But, the venue is set to re-open this week as The Wiley Fox with a few notable changes – including the serving up of meat pies as grub in the bar.

Speaking to DailyEdge.ie, co-owner of The Wiley Fox Paddy Scully explains the decision to sell pies in the pub:

You can get pizzas and pints in so many places, and we just didn’t want to do the exact same thing as all them, so we went for pies. We wanted to do something unexpected.

When the venue opens on Thursday of this week, there will be three types of pie available – all from the well known Pieminister brand. There will be beef & Guinness, chicken mushroom and white wine, and sweet potato.

On top of the pie offering, the pub will also have a varied craft beer and cocktail selection. As Paddy says, that combination is something very different:

Not many pubs are going to be like this.

In terms of music, Scully says that they will have DJs playing in the downstairs section of the venue with a late bar Thursday to Saturday. The upstairs venue – which holds 220 people – will have live gigs as well as club nights:

The bar will be a proper bar - with nice bar music. We’ll play everything – but no sh**e.

Sounds like a good rule for any pub to live by.

The Wiley Fox will also have an outdoor terrace area, which could be used in the rare event of a beautiful summer’s evening in Dublin.

Bringing something different to the Eden Quay area of town is something that’s clearly one of the main aims of The Wiley Fox:

We want to bring something new to this part of the city, creating something unexpected.

So, a new music venue for the city centre of Dublin – with a bit of a twist.
