SCHOOLS ALL OVER the country are taking part in celebrations to mark Proclamation Day.

As part of Rathfarnham Parish National School’s special day, they’ve unveiled their Proclamation for a new generation.

Among the very worthy dreams that “no one should be lonely” and “when someone gets hurt or is sad, they should get a hug or kiss or flowers”, there is an important stipulation:

We declare National Donut Day once a year, when everyone is given a chocolate donut, a toothbrush and toothpaste.

The children have also been busy building replicas of the GPO as part of their 1916 celebrations.
